By holding the C# and G# keys open in the case, air is allowed to pass between the tone hole and the pad making the pads much less likely to stick. The key holder tension is set to be just tight enough to hold the G# key and C# key open. The StickyStop is designed so it is not necessary to be set very tight. It just needs to be tight enough so that it will not fall off.
